Dan Dmitru Bulbuk of Eastpointe, Michigan May 31, 1930 - May 11, 2018 Loving husband, father, brother, brother-in-law and uncle. Dan was a loving husband to Sally (Wenz) Bulbuk, father of Leslie Bulbuk (Marta Donayre), brother of Mary Bougdanos, and John Bulbuk. He was born in Detroit, Michigan in 1930, to Vasile Bulbuk and Elena (Cretsu) Bulbuk. His father ran a mom and pop grocery store in Detroit, and after his father died, he worked there for pocket money when he was very young, plucking chickens and turkeys to sell to the neighborhood. He attended high school at St. Benedict in Detroit, graduating in 1949, and while in school worked every day at a bakery in Detroit in order to buy some of his own things and to not take money from his mother, brother and sister. Dan Bulbuk loved his family above all else. He was a loving provider, a kind and gentle man who possessed a sweet sense of humor that lifted the spirits of all around him. He was always joyful and loved to be around people. Dan met Sally Wenz in 1952 at the Vanity Ballroom in Detroit. He didnt have a car when they first began dating in 1953, much to Sallys fathers dismay, so he bought a Crown Ford Victoria to take her around in. They married on October 22, 1955, at St. Simons Romanian Orthodox Church in Detroit, and began their life together in East Detroit, in the home of a family friend on Redmond before buying their own home just down the road in 1956, where they resided until 2013. In late 1962 they welcomed their only child, Leslie after a bumpy drive in rainy weather with Sally in labor, complaining about every bump along the way to St. Johns Hospital in Detroit. Dan and Sally were married for over 62 loving years. He was a U.S. Postal Service Letter Carrier for 43 years, and enjoyed interacting with all the customers on the mail routes he walked over his long career. Even in the last few years, he could recite the addresses and names of so many of the people he loved to serve. After he retired from the Post Office, he worked several jobs, at the Edsel and Eleanor Ford House, at Grosse Pointe Woods and Grosse Pointe Farms Parks. An avid singer of barbershop music, joined the Grosse Pointe Lakeshore Chorus of the Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barbershop Quartet Singing in America (SPEBSQSA) in 1966, and was the lead singer of the quartet, Dannys Boys. He loved his fellow barbershoppers and enjoyed every minute he spent singing with them. The family will receive friends Tuesday, May 15, 2018 from 3:00 pm until 7:00 pm at A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 32000 Schoenherr Road at Masonic (13 1/2 mile) Warren. A private funeral will be held on Wednesday, May 16, 2018.
