Heidi, I am so sorry for the sudden loss of David. It was such a shock to everyone that knew him. The pain of what has happened is immeasurable. We are never prepared for a tragedy like this, but we can take a small measure of comfort knowing that we have a promise from God, that whomsoever believes shall never die but have eternal life. I remember when David and I were last together and how he expressed his love for his family. I know that he carried that with him all the days of his life. He knew how much he was loved and he carried that love with him all the way to heaven. Please know that I have the entire family in my thoughts and prayers at this time.

Dear Mercer Family,,,I decorate peoples desks at work for their birthday. One year, I decorated Daivd's desk, I always use confetti. I guess he wasnt as fond of it as me, and that started a confetti war. He even managed to throw it inside my car thru the sunroof. He would love to jump out and scare people, "BOO". When I got him back so bad that he would jump and call me B*#*^! I knew I had done a good job and giggle even more. He was very special. He will be very missed.

Heidi & Boys, I am sorry to hear of the loss of your dear husband and father. He sure had a way to make others laugh. As others have said I had a nick name as well. He would call me myfriendjulie. That came from years back when he trained a friend of mine. She would say "my friend Julie" from then on to him I was myfriendjulie. I also fondly remember a few months back Dave coming to the day shift for training. We would walk the stairs on lunch all the way to the 17th floor. He would try to talk us into climbing through the hatch to get up on the roof. We quickly refused! I would like to extend my prayers and condolensences to the entire family. I worked with Dave for 13 yrs at ATT downtown detroit prior to my relocating to Atlanta for another position. Once I transitioned to Hicap, Dave taught me everything I know when it came to anything involving a circuit. Dave and I had a longtime joke because we would always get a laugh from everyone when we would tell everyone we were related because my maiden name is also "Mercer". Anytime Dave walked in the office, he always had the brightest smile and the funniest jokes while tugging his lunch bag that he would eat within the hour of his arriving to work..lol. I can remember Dave would always convince a few us to go with him to get Mexican food from what is known to everyone as Mexican Village because of all its the restaurants. He would pack us in his caravan he had at that time, and zoom off and we would assume we would do a pick up but so we would not be late arriving back, but Dave would say "no lets go in and eat" I will make something up when we get back. Once we would all come back from lunch, we would be hysterical because the Mexican food always left an everlasting impression with Dave.lol. Never would I have thought I would have to say goodbye to such a great person, He was definately an ATT icon who will be greatly missed.

I am so very sorry for your loss. I knew David through work at AT&T for 13 years. Rest in peace David my friend and coworker. My prayers for the family may God bless you with his peace and consolation.
