Dennis P. Miriani

Dennis P. Miriani, age 84, of Grosse Pointe Woods passed away peacefully at home on February 18, 2025. He was the third son born to Elizabeth and Harry Miriani in Detroit, MI on May 14, 1940. He attended St. Bernard in Detroit and graduated from St. Gertrude in St. Clair Shores. He put himself through college at Wayne State University by working at the National Bank of Detroit. He met his adoring wife, Patricia, on the ski slopes of Aspen, CO while on a group trip with the Ski Club of Detroit in 1968 and they were married in May of 1969. He was a loving husband to Patty for over 55 years and they enjoyed skiing, traveling, being active members of St. Joan of Arc parrish, and spending time with their family. They started their family in 1970 when their son, Peter, was born. His daughters Jennifer (Curt Weiszhaar) and Elizabeth (Tom McHugh) followed soon after. He was the cherished Poppi to John, Ryan, and Meghan McHugh and Evelyn, Will, and Emily Weiszhaar. He is survived by his 3 brothers: Harry, Tom and Jim and leaves many loving nieces and nephews.

Dennis enjoyed relaxing and entertaining at the family cottage in Canada and weekly golf outings with his brothers. He was a huge fan of college sports–especially the University of Michigan. Go Blue! He was passionate about sharing his love of sports and enjoyed passing it to the next generation by teaching his children to ski at a young age, coaching a summer softball team for 6 years, and later, passing on golf tips to his grandsons. He was his children’s biggest fan, and never missed their school or sporting events. He was proud to provide for his family with a 47 year long career as a trade show contractor for Convention Show Services and also served as the executive vice president at the Metro Detroit Convention and Visitors Bureau. He had a unique gift with people up to the very end, treating everyone he met with kindness, respect, and a friendly smile. He will be greatly missed.

Visitation will be Monday, February 24th, 4-8 PM at A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack at Vernier, Grosse Pointe Woods with a Scripture service at 7pm. Instate Tuesday, February 25th, 9:30 AM at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 21620 Greater Mack, St. Clair Shores until the time of his Mass at 10:00 AM.
