He is survived by his wife Ellen; his daughters, Meghan (Stephen), Madison, and Isabella; granddaughter Isla; his mother Erah; his sister Renee (Floyd) and many cherished friends.
He was an avid boater, many of his best days were spent on the water with family and friends. He loved golf, fishing, trips up north, and traveling to the Florida Keys.
Derek had a successful career in the welding, tooling and aerospace industries where he served as a proud owner and President. He was a proud member of Gowanie, GPYC, Lochmoor Club, and the DAC.
Derek was full of life and brought joy and laughter to anyone he met. He will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
A visitation for Derek will be held Friday, January 17, 2025 from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM at A. H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Ave, Grosse Pointe Woods, MI 48236. A funeral service will occur Saturday, January 18, 2025 at 10:00 AM at A. H. Peters Funeral Home.
