Devine, Diane, 56, our loving, gentle, smart, and compassionate mom, sister, cousin, and friend died peacefully at Arden Courts of Livonia on December 21, 2016. Diane spent much of her life in the Grosse Pointe and Harper Woods communities, graduating in 1978 from Our Lady Star of the Sea in Grosse Pointe Woods. Her Catholic education and faith were extremely important to her and her family throughout life. Blessed with enormous gumption, she was fearless, strong-willed, and an extremely intelligent woman. Always smiling and dancing, her love of playful mischief and friendly pranks continually kept her friends in high spirits. Diane was a social worker, serving the Harper Woods School District at Tyrone and Beacon Elementary for many years. She also spent several years at the Northeast Guidance Center and the Judson Center. She earned her undergraduate degree from Arizona State University and her Master's in Social Work from Wayne State University in Detroit. An exemplary mother, athlete, breast cancer survivor, and fun loving woman; Diane will be dearly missed by any and all she met. Diane is the cherished mother of Adam Devine. Beloved sister of Denise Ward-Rayl (Frank Rayl), Donna (David) Hoard, and Sandy Watson. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends. Preceded in death by her parents Alan and Mary Devine, and brother, Alan Devine III. Diane's family welcomes you to gather and share memories on Monday from 2-9pm with a 7pm Rosary at A.H.
