Donald Lee Dewey, passed away peacefully at age 81 on Wednesday, June 25, 2025 with his wife, Susan Dewey (nee. Bandy) at his right side. His passing came one day before Susan and Don would’ve celebrated their 43rd Wedding Anniversary.
Don was born in Romeo, MI where he lived as a child. He was a proud alumni of Michigan State University. Following his graduation from MSU in 1967, Don worked as a Public Safety Officer until 2001 but stayed on as a Dispatcher until 2015 for the Grosse Pointe Farms Police and Fire Department, where he retired after 48 years. Following his retirement, Don volunteered at Beaumont Hospital in Grosse Pointe until the Covid 19 Pandemic in 2020. Aside from volunteering, Don enjoyed Golfing on Wednesdays with his golfing league, Friday Nights spent at Irish Coffee with many friends, Detroit Sports, especially the Detroit Lions and until his hospitalization would spend summers and weekends with his Great Grandniece, Lively Bandy with whom he would frequent the Pier Park (GP Farms) and Steak Dinners at Salvatore Scallopini.
He leaves behind his Sister, Mary, Children, Barbara (Roger), Deborah (Brett) and Kevin; Grandchildren, Samantha, Sarah, Heather, Amy and Aaron; Great Grandson, Oliver; Nephews, Shaun (Ameera) and Jason (Victoria); Great Grandnieces, Lively and Summer, and the love of his Life, Susan.
A visitation for Donald will be held Saturday, July 12, 2025 from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM at A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Ave, Grosse Pointe Woods, MI 48236. Following the visitation will be a rosary at 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
