Donald A. Maxwell Jr. Age 67, entered into eternal life on February 4, 2021, beloved husband of Elizabeth and the late Marcia Maxwell. Dear father of Donald Maxwell III, Joseph Sierzenga IV and Jaimi Elizabeth (Sean) Kenyon, Don was a dedicated man of faith and loyal family man. Don was preceded in death by his parents Donald Sr. and Margaret (Ulrich) Maxwell along with Marcia Phillips Maxwell and Father In-Law Keith Witmer. He leaves behind his siblings Thomas (Katie), Paul (Maggie), Mary Anne, David (Colleen), Mark (Jill), Mother-in-Law Natalie Witmer, Sister-in-law Dianne Phillips (Kathy Kowalski) along with many adored nieces, nephews and extended family members.Â
As a Birmingham native, Don attended Our Lady Queen of Martyrs for eight years of elementary school following four years at Brother Rice Catholic High School, Class of 1971, where he was introduced to his lifelong friends, "The Breakfast Boys". He earned a Bachelor’s degree from CMU in 1975 and a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Detroit in 1983. He retired after 42 years of service to Comerica Bank as Vice President, Private Mortgage Banker in 2016.Â
As the eldest of six, Don always took a leadership role. He took great pride in assisting the needs and development of many with integrity, devotion and fierce loyalty. Everyone could always count on Don. Anchored in traditional values, Don enjoyed sharing nearly a decade with his son, Donald, attending the Boy Scouts of America's many explorations and also their annual summer trip to Camp Sancta Maria. Don had the capacity to love and care for not just his first wife Marcia, who lost her life to Muscular Dystrophy, and son Donald, but also had the strength to trust in love once again in 2011 when he married Elizabeth and embraced her children as his own. Sharing the unity of family and togetherness brought Don great joy that was eagerly reciprocated. He enjoyed taking pictures of his retirement adventures, anything automotive, a good pun and was filled with dreams of visiting America's National Parks.
