

Dorothy Louise Boor a resident of Warren, Mi. for 25 years and formerly of Detroit, died peacefully Tuesday January 29, 2013 at St. John Macomb-Oakland Hospital in Warren. She was born November 11, 1927 in Dawson Springs, Kentucky the daughter of Dewy and Iva Ladd. Her father died in 1937 and Iva married Albert Childers, they were married for 57 years. In 1939 they moved to Detroit and this became Dorothy's home. Dorothy was set up with a blind date by her sister-in-law to meet a young man home on leave from the service, his name was Richard. It was love at first sight and one week later Richard proposed! Dorothy promised to wait for him. Upon returning home, from serving during WWII, Dorothy and Richard married, January 13, 1946 and have shared 67 years of marriage. Dorothy was employed with Blue Cross & Blue Shield as a claims accountant retiring in 1989. Dorothy and Richard did everything together. Her hobbies included working in their garden together, traveling and playing Gin Rummy. She also enjoyed singing in the choir at St. Clair Shores Assembly of God Church. Besides Richard, her loving husband of 67 years, she is survived by her sons Larry (Sally), Philip (Pamela) and her daughter Marlene (William) Wilson. She was the proud grandmother of Matthew (Hollie), Timothy (Kristin), Nicole (Christopher) Grabowski, Amanda (Glenn) Holman, Joshua, Jeremiah and Jacob (Laura) and great grandchildren Tory, Ruby, Chloe, Nyla and Xavier Boor; Angelina, Brianna and Ethan Grabowski; Ella and Riley Holman and Julian Boor. Dearest sister of Juanita Wyatt and the late Billy Wayne Childers. Visitation at A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 32000 Schoenherr at Masonic (13 Mile Rd.), Warren Thursday 2pm until 9pm. Funeral Service Friday 12 Noon.
