Dorothy Ann Healy

Dorothy Healy passed away peacefully at her home on February 16, 2018 at the age of 92. She was born on July 1st, 1925 in Detroit; daughter of Melford and Olga (nee Herz) Asmus. On June 23, 1950, Dorothy married William H. "Bill" Healy at Christ United Methodist Church on Detroits East Side. The couple enjoyed 50 years of marriage until Bills death in 2000. Dorothy was active at Christ United Methodist Church and later Grosse Pointe United Methodist Church. Dorothy enjoyed sewing and craft work. She loved spending time with her family, playing pinochle, chocolate, and listening to Irish and Big Band era music. She always said that she wanted to outlive her aunt who also passed away at the age of 92. Dorothy truly loved her family and will be missed by her loving children Karen Healy, Tim (Lorraine) Healy, and Mary (Patrick) Maher. She was proud of her grandchildren Megan, Sean, Colleen, and the late Matthew. She is survived by her sister Carol Holdredge, and brother Richard Asmus; and numerous loving nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, husband Bill, and sister Shirley, and grandson Matthew. Visitation will be held on Friday from 3:00pm until 9:00 pm at A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Ave., at Vernier Rd., Grosse Pointe Woods. Her funeral service will be held on Saturday at noon at the funeral home. Dorothys cremated remains will be interred next to her beloved Bills at Grosse Pointe United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Grosse Pointe United Methodist Church Memorial Rose Garden.
