

Edith S. Marchiori, age 79, died peacefully on Friday, June 22, 2018 after a long illness. She was born on June 15, 1939 in Detroit, the daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth Fanelli. Edie graduated St. Theresa High School in Detroit in 1957. After graduation she worked as a waitress at Marchiori Catering where she met Bill Marchiori. In 1958 the young couple were married at St. Luke Catholic Church in Detroit. Edie raised her six children and was a stay at home mom. When the children were old enough, she went back to work in the family catering company, Marchiori Catering in St. Clair Shores. Her family was Edies focus in life. She attended all of the childrens and grandchildrens events including athletic games and school functions. She enjoyed playing cards and games with the kids. She also liked traveling, going to the casino, playing cards with friends, trying new restaurants, reading, cooking and baking. She was a member of the Venetian Club of Mutual Aid and the Order of the Alhambra Galicia Caravan. Edie is survived by her beloved husband of 60 years, William L.; their six children: Angela Lietaert (Charles), Linda Lietaert, Carol Slivka (David), William R. Marchiori (Kimberly), Anthony Marchiori (Kathleen), and Matthew Marchiori (Diana); 17 grandchildren: Brian Lietaert (Lindsey), Chris Lietaert (Lauren), Chas Lietaert (Aesha), Lisa Lietaert, Billy Marchiori (Jenn), Jessica Lietaert, Brandon Marchiori, Johnathan Marchiori, Michael Marchiori, Madelyn Marchiori, Joseph Slivka, Elizabeth Slivka, Nicholas Marchiori, John Slivka, Matthew Marchiori, Kai Marchiori and Lia Marchiori; four great-grandchildren: Valentina, Leonardo, Blake and Stella; her sister, Clara Jeffries (Jim) and sister-in-law, Susan Fanelli. She was predeceased by her parents and brother, Ralph Fanelli. The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 8:00 pm Sunday and 2:00 to 9:00 pm Monday at the A. H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Avenue at Vernier Road in Grosse Pointe Woods. The Holy Rosary will be recited at 6:00 pm Sunday under the auspices of the Order of the Alhambra. A Scripture Service will be held Monday evening at 7:30 pm with Monsignor Ricardo Bass officiating. Her body will lie instate at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 21620 Greater Mack (at Overlake), in St. Clair Shores from 9:30 am Tuesday until mass begins at 10:00 am. Monsignor G. Michael Bugarin and Rev. Fr. Richard Bartoszek will officiate. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Detroit. Memorials to Giving Pack or the Order of the Alhambra would be appreciated.
