

Edward Diedo joined his many family members on August 15, 2019. Edward was born in Hamrun, Malta May 8, 1920. That same year his father emigrated from Malta to the United States, through Ellis Island NY, leaving his wife and two children in Malta. Nine years later Edwards family was reunited in the United States. In childhood, Ed proved to have extraordinary musical talents and after graduating from Cass Technical High School in 1938 he was awarded a scholarship to the University of Miami (FL) where he earned his BA in education. After serving in the US Army during WW II, Ed returned to Michigan, earning His MA in education from Wayne State University and enjoyed a long successful career teaching music and math in the Detroit Public Schools before retiring in 1980. In 1990, Ed retired to Florida and spent many years near or on the beach in St. Petersburg and Treasure Island. He was preceded in death by his parents Elisabeth (Borg) and Emmanuel Ignatius Diedo, brother Alfred, sister Erminia, wives Mary (1947-1984), Angeline (1990-2005) and son Allan. He is survived by his children Donald (Karen), Marilyn (Thomas), Ernest (Noreen), daughter in law Vera (Allan), Nine grandchildren; Tamara (Thomas), Donald Jr., Thomas Jr. (Jennifer), Nicholas, Melissa (Hussein), Bryan (Jacquelyn), Alecia, Christina, Maria and nine great grandchildren. Also surviving are wife Ricarda and step children Deborah (Christopher), Tina (Edward), Arthur, many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Wednesday August 28, 2019 from 4-8 pm at the AH Peters Funeral Home 20705 Mack Ave. Grosse Pointe Woods. On August 29, in state 9:30 am at the Solanus Casey Center 1780 Mt. Elliott, Detroit Michigan until the funeral Mass at 10 am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Solanus Casey Center, 1780 Mt. Elliott, Detroit MI 48207.
