I just learned of Ed's passing last night. He was a guest on my radio and tv show years ago. Ed had a lot of energy and was a great storyteller. I'm sure he is missed by friends and family. My belated condolences to his family.

Miriam, Please accept my deepest condolences. I ask thay you forgive the delay in sharing, as I have only learned of Ed's passing yesterday, and just beginning to process it emotionally. While we have never met in person, only speaking by phone, I feel connected in a very special way as a result of Ed's unique touch. He was always willing to share his wisdom, tell a story and encourage me on to great entrepreneurial achievements. Please know that in my own way, as do we all who have commented, share in only but a portion your loss. You and your family are in my prayers and I am sincerely at your service.

Ed King was a personal friend and mentor to me. Since 1989 when I first me him at one of his Small Business Seminar orientations I knew he was someone special. Someone who truly cared about helping others. As I thought back over the years of our friendship I cannot stop and think how much he reminds me of the story of the legendary Scottish lamplighter. Back in the days before electricity illuminated our streets, our avenues were lit up by a gas flame. Each day at dusk the Scottish lamplighter would make his way down the street with his ladder and torch. He would stop at each lamppost climb his ladder and light the flame. People would sit on their front porch and watch him come and light up their street in front of their home. If they were to miss him as he came by, they always knew which direction he went because behind him, he left a blazing trail of bright lights. Ed King was a modern day lamplighter. He brightened so many, many peoples lives through his generous caring and teaching. Ed, I miss you buddy. Thank you for being an inspiration and mentor and bright, bright, bright light in my life. Miriam, I'm so very sorry for your loss and to have missed the funeral! As everyone is saying, Ed was certainly one of a kind. To use his background, wit and sense of humor to connect with small business owners and entrepreneurs was certainly unique and may never be seen again. I have very fond memories of Ed - taking my son to a bar to discuss college choices when we asked him for advice...giving my other son the benefit of his sage advice at his graduation party - we treasure the autographed copy we have of his book (and his course curriculum!), and of course, your Christmas cards. Hoping that you feel all the love that is surrounding you, and wishing you wonderful memories of Ed.

Ray and I were so sorry to hear about Ed. We always enjoyed his talks and spending time with you both. Please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers.

Ed was a brilliant Star shooting through our lives. Our normal lunch on the days he was in his office was the high point of my day. He often spoke of you, and your conversations. Ive never met a person who had the ability to charm, to engage, to motivate, to connect, to teach and to entertain the way Ed did. I had the pleasure of spending a small amount of time with Ed in family settings each year along with many of those closest to him. Every time I saw him, he always had something special to share and to teach through a story, a joke or a lesson. He never changed and his wit and sincerity never waivered. To Miriam and the family, especially the Monigold family, who allowed me the pleasure of knowing Ed... Little did I know 29 years ago that my life was about to be so much fun!! I met Ed. Working for Ed was the most fun I would ever have at a job.. whether he was yelling at Grace or giving his life advice, he was a joy to be around. My relationship with Ed and you, Miriam, is one that I have always treasured. I am so sad that I will not hear his laugh anymore, or his crazy stories... The world is going to be a little less bright without him.

I always loved popping into Ed's office (without his knowledge) at Wayne State in between my business management classes for a quick tune up. Ed always had 3 solutions to my questions and always left with more wisdom than I could handle...

Miriam, Karen and I feel a great lost at Ed passing. He always made me laugh, always had what was best for me at heart, told it way he saw it, and was fun to be with. In fact our daughter, after meeting him, forever more referred to him as our "fun" friend. He affected big choices in my life in very positive way. He told me how was in way I could hear. A great communicator, Ed was a magnetic personality. As dean of the Wayne State University School of Business Administration, I walked the hallways to see which faculty had kept their students through the end of the semester. Only with Ed King (TWICE!) did I see students hunting down extra seats in the 14th week. At the beginning of the semester, we had assigned more students to Ed than the room had seats...Fourteen weeks later, they were still battling for a seat in the great one's classroom. Whether teaching freshmen or talented executives, he was gifted.

Miriam, Ed was truly one-of-a-kind and I will be forever grateful for having him in my life for the last 23 years. I always admired his ability to talk to anybody about anything. He was the most social and talkative introvert Ive ever met. I will miss his bad jokes, his 10-second stories (which I heard a million times, but, for some reason cant think of one right now), his regular Johnny Depp and Mickey Rourke updates, his hilarious and unique Christmas cards, his advice and, most of all, his caring spirit. He always looked out for me and I loved him like family. He also made me laugh like no one else could. His passing has left a big hole in my heart and I will miss him tremendously.

Dear Eddie, As your only girl cousin, I always cherished our special relationship  even tho Grandma King liked me better than you, (as you would so often say). Who can forget the summer of '61, when you let me be your sidekick at the Armada fair on the nickel-toss game and taught me all the lessons of life I would ever need to know. In the good times and bad, you were always there for me to represent the Kings whenever my call came  special birthdays, Stephanies wedding, (remember the Vagina Monologues?), and sadly, dear Williams funeral. I wish I could have been there for you. Apparently Joan Rivers must have flopped on the great midway in the sky, and God needed a better opening act. Theres no one better for the job. Miriam, I am so very sorry to learn of Ed's death. I always think of him with a smile-because he gave everyone who knew him a reason to laugh. His ability to joke about life and its absurdities made him so special. I' m with you in spirit my friend.

Dear Miriam, I truly thought Ed would beat this, but he is at peace now. I can't tell you how honored I was to have been roasted by Ed. And when he roasted Dennis we all laughed to tears.
