Edward Ellis Moon

Edward Moon passed away on December 9, 2010 at St. John Macomb Hospital in Warren. He was born on November 9, 1922 in Sharpsville, Pennsylvania; son of Ellis and Mary M. (nee Gill) Moon. Mr. Moon served our country proudly during WWII in the United States Army. He served as Marine Engineer seeing action in the Pacific Theater. Ed graduated from the University of Michigan in 1947 with a degree in mechanical engineering. On October 27, 1951 Ed married his love Jackie in Pennsylvania. They have resided in Grosse Pointe Woods for the last 47 years. Ed was very active in the community. He belonged to the Grosse Pointe Community Chorus, the Senior Men's Club, and the Jefferson Yacht Club. He kept his ties with U of M as a season ticket holder for 37 years at the Big House. He was active with the engineering department helping to procure funding for scholarships. He leaves behind his loving wife of 59 years Jackie. He adored his children Barbara Templer (James), Eric E. Moon, and Lisa Reaser. He was very proud of his grandson DJ and hoped to attend his graduation from Central Michigan University on December 11, 2010. A memorial gathering will be held on Sunday, December 12th from 1:00 pm until 5:00 pm at A.H. Peters Funeral Home 20705 Mack Ave., at Vernier Rd., Grosse Pointe Woods. A prayer service will be held at 4:00 pm and conclude with Military Honors.
