June 4, 1951 - October 11, 2026
Elizabeth Angela Darder, 75, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, October 11, 2026. A lifelong Detroit resident, Elizabeth cherished her family, loved dogs, and faithfully cheered on her Detroit Tigers.
Born on June 4, 1951 to Mario and Martha (née Rosinsky) Darder, Elizabeth is survived by her loving sister Francesca Schmitt (Daniel); her beloved nieces Nicole Schmitt (Rana) and Melissa Brown (Andy); and her beloved nephews Matthew Licata (Kristen), Jason Witulski (Daniel), Nicholas Dziurda (Robert), and Daniel Schmitt. She was also a cherished great-aunt to Jacob, Grantham and Ayden.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mario and Martha Darder; her sister Sandra Licata; her brother Mario Carmen Darder; and her brother-in-law Frank Licata.
Elizabeth attended Bishop Gallagher High School in Harper Woods before pursuing her education in radiology. She spent her entire career as an X-ray technologist at St. John Hospital in Detroit, dedicating her working life to caring for others.
Elizabeth’s greatest joy was her family. She relished gathering for birthdays and holidays, celebrating milestones, and spending time with the people she loved. She was endlessly proud of her nieces and nephews and took great happiness in watching their lives unfold. To them, she was a beloved aunt whose presence was a constant. They fondly remember childhood summers spent with Aunt Liz and their grandmother and the countless dinners and shopping trips they were treated to.
Her love for dogs was just as enduring. Her beloved pug, Mugsy, held a special place in her heart and preceded her in death.
A devoted Tigers fan, Elizabeth never missed a game and an opportunity to cheer on Kerry Carpenter. Following her hometown team was one of the pleasures she treasured the most even when they disappointed. And when the Tigers weren’t on, Elizabeth passed the time watching Lifetime movies.
Elizabeth will be deeply missed at family gatherings, when the announcer shouts “play ball”, and in the everyday moments that bring her laugh and Aunt Liz kisses to mind.
