

Emile J. Goyette, age 84 of Eastpointe, Michigan passed away in Detroit on Monday, December 17, 2012. He was born in Detroit to Emile and Yvonne Goyette on Friday, September 21, 1928. A graduate from St. Vincent High School, Emile began a devoted 20 year career with the Detroit Freepress from 1973 until retirement in 1993. He hired in as an electrotypist and advanced with technology as it improved. Emile was an avid bird watcher and enjoyed the birds around his Eastpointe home as well as at their cottage in Caseville where they spent each summer after retirement. Emile also enjoyed woodworking and would make birdhouses on his lathe for each family member. Emile also enjoyed fishing and boating on Saginaw Bay near their cottage. An outgoing and friendly gentleman, Emile "never met a stranger". People remembered Emile due to his good-natured and pleasant ways. He touched the lives of everyone he met. Beloved husband of Janet for over 60 years. They were married in June 1952 at St. Raymond Catholic Church in Detroit. Loving father of Susan (Michael) Dowgiewicz and Jeanne (Thomas) Wightman. Proud grandfather of Kathryn, Joseph, Richard and Daniel. Dear brother of Helen Kozlowski and Pierre Goyette. Visitation will be held Friday, December 21, 2012 from 2:00pm until 9:00pm at the A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Ave. at Vernier Rd., Grosse Pointe Woods. Scripture service 7:00pm. Instate Saturday, December 22, 2012 at 9:30am until time of mass at 10:00am at St. Peter the Apostle, 19851 Anita, Harper Woods. Fr. Stan Pachia will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation.
