Emilia (Makichuk) Cusenza, 94, of Grosse Pointe Shores, Michigan passed away on October 10, 2026. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 68 years Vito. She was a loving mother to her four children James (widower of Marilyn), Annette, Paul (Sally) and Vincent (Tammy). Dearest grandmother of the late William, Diane (Benjamin), Amy (Bryan), Sarah (Gabriel), Aria, Sabrina, and Mia and dearest great grandmother to Juniper and Vera. Predeceased by her three sisters and two brothers.
Her family, and providing love and care, was at the core of who Emilia was. She was an active member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church and had a strong faith. She often did volunteer work. Emilia was also an artist and was always creating whether oil paintings, refinishing furniture, using her sewing skills, or fashioning original crafts for her offspring. Emilia was a wonderful cook often making meals for large family gatherings. She will be deeply missed.
A visitation for Emilia will be held Friday, October 16, 2026 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, including a rosary at 7:30 PM, at A. H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Ave, Grosse Pointe Woods, MI 48236.
A visitation will occur Saturday, October 17, 2026 from 9:30 AM to 10:00 AM with the funeral mass at 10:00 AM at Our Lady Star of the Sea, 467 Fairford Road, Grosse Pointe Woods, MI 48236.
