Eric Petrosky

Eric was a devoted father, caring friend, and dedicated worker. Eric grew up in Grosse Pointe alongside his two sisters, Nina and Wendy. His passion for biology led him to pursue his Bachelors of Arts from Albion College, where he was also a member of Sigma Chi fraternity. After pursuing his Bachelor’s Degree, Eric then joined the United States Navy, where he received his initial flight training and instruction, setting him up for his lifelong career.

Eric was passionate about all things machinery, but especially loved Aviation and flight science. He worked as a First Officer and Captain for American Airlines, flying planes such as the A300, 777, 737, and the MD80, to name a few. He flew both domestically and internationally to Central and South America, Europe and Asia. Eric retired from American Airlines in 2019 after a 27 year career.

Eric was a friend to all who knew him, and had a soft side for his furry friends. He loved all animals, but was especially fond of his late cat and travel companion, Polaris, who passed only weeks prior to him. Along with his girl Polaris, Eric was extremely fond of his cats Misty and Vader.

Above all, Eric was a proud father. Anyone who knew Eric, knew Connor. Eric passed his love for adventure, thrill seeking, and machinery onto Connor. The two enjoyed many activities together starting from a young age, including boating, flying, sailing, skiing, dirt biking, wake surfing, and generally talking planes. Connor took after his father’s love for aviation and machinery and began his anticipated lifelong career with Delta Airlines in 2026.

Eric is survived by: His son, Connor James Petrosky; Daughter in-law, Dr. Hannah Jean Petrosky; Sisters, Nina Stephens and Wendy Petrosky; Mother, Edith Ellen Petrosky; Nieces and Nephews, Ariel Stephens and McKinley Stephens; along with many friends.

Visitation will be held at A H Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Ave, Grosse Pointe Woods, MI 48236, US, on September 20, 2026, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm.
