

Ethel Caroline Cischke, age 95, a longtime resident of Harper Woods, passed away on Thursday, February 21, 2019. She was born in Detroit on March 4, 1923 to Paul and Erna Teschendorf. Ethel was a graduate of Denby High School. Ethel worked at J.L. Hudsons Store and worked for many years as a buyer. She eventually retired after working in the fine dining and crystal department there. Ethel was a member of the Harper Woods American Legion Ladies Auxiliary for over 70 years. She held many positions over the years including treasurer and secretary. She also belonged to The Order of the Eastern Star. Ethel enjoyed playing cards and was an avid bowler. She loved spending time at the cottage, but most importantly, spending time with her family and loved ones. With a tender heart she was always taking care of her family. Ethel often put her own needs behind others. She will be missed. Beloved wife of the late Harold and fomer companion to Johnny Werwein. Loving mother of Carole (Steve) Ebersole, Jeannette Terns, and the late Alvin. Dear grandmother of Sean, Scott (Stacey), Jeff (Nicole), and Jayson; Dennis (Mary) Ebersole, Brenda (Thomas) Storz; and Hillary (Michael) Catalfio. Great-grandmother of 20. Ethel was preceded in death by her siblings; Dorothy Furest, Alice Centmeyer, Joe Teschendorf, Leo Teschendorf, and Bernice Clary. Visitation Monday from 1-8 PM at the A. H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Avenue at Vernier Road, Grosse Pointe Woods, MI 48236 Funeral service Tuesday 12 Noon at the funeral home with Pastor George Oberle officiating. Entombment will take place in Gethsemane Cemetery, Detroit, MI
