Ethel M. Messina

Ethel M. Messina (Nee Detkowski) was born July 13, 1931 in Detroit, Michigan to parents Frank and Makie (Nee Gorny) Detkowski. She entered into rest May 28, 2016 in Detroit, with her family close at hand. Ethel loved to spend time up north at her cottage in Gaylord, MI with both her family and her many friends. She was a wonderful cook and always made the best family meals. Her generosity knew no bounds, and she welcomed everyone into her home and always offered them a warm meal. Playing cards with family and going to the casino were activities she enjoyed, especially if it meant spending time with her favorite nephew Donald. Beloved wife of the late Vincent J. Messina. Beloved mother of Antoinette "Toni" Messina, Sharon Monahan (Peter), and Nick Messina (Linda). Proud grandmother of Kimberly, Kristin, Nicole (Ali), and Michael, and great-grandmother of Ava, Mason, Jayden, and Farrah. Dearest sister of Jean (Hank) Wojtowicz and Marianne Gray. Also a wonderful and loving aunt to many nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Ethel will be Thursday, 12pm at A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 32000 Schoenherr rd., (at Masonic) in Warren. There will be a gathering of friends and family Thursday from 11:30 until the time of service and Wednesday from 2-9pm.
