Evelyn G. Surma

Evelyn "Ma" G. Surma, age 90 of Warren, passed away December 2, 2014. She was born on July 28, 1924 in Van Dyke, Michigan; the daughter of Arthur and Catherine (nee Foushey) Chase. After high school, Ma did her part for her country by working as a riveter at Murray Body during WWII. Later she became a hardworking and devoted employee for the United States Post Office; retiring after 25 years of loyal service. Ma was a longtime member of the Metropolitan Club and in her later years, she enjoyed roller skating with her senior group. She adored spending time with family and most of all; she relished every opportunity with her grandchildren. Ma will be remembered for having a wonderfully wicked sense of humor and for being a delight to be around. She is dearly loved and will be deeply missed. Loving mother of Michele (David) Winters, Yvonne (Alan) Miniard, Steven (Sherry), Dana and the late Bernard "Buck". Dear mother-in-law of Linda. Treasured grandmother of Daniel Winters, Andrew (Blair) Winters, Gregory Winters, Eric (Stephanie), Jason (Jennifer), Adam, Michele, Zachary, Joshua, Nathaniel, Christopher and the late Michael. Adoring great-grandmother of Brooke, Aiden, Carter, Everleigh and Iva. Dear sister of Arthur (Brenda) and the late Dorothy. Interment will take place at White Chapel Cemetery in Troy.
