Gail Lynne Smith, age 82 of Ypsilanti passed away on Tuesday, June 1, 2021. She was born on March 19, 1939 to the late Stanley Clinton and Marjorie Esther (nee: Barnes) Smith.
She attended Michigan State University and graduated with a BA in home economics. After graduation, she worked for J. L. Hudson and Michigan Consolidated Gas Company, before taking a position as a legal secretary at a prominent law firm in Detroit. She was married in 1965 and divorced a few years later. Due to a chronic health condition, she was forced to take medical leave and retired early.
Gail was a three-year member of the Senior Community Center located in the Lincoln High School in Ypsilanti. Her dedication resulted in her seat on the board of directors. She enjoyed planting and tending to her flowers during the warm months, spending time with family, and reaching out to others.
She is survived by her brother, Kurt Smith; two nieces, Stephanie Ramser and Jennifer Smith; two nephews, Scott and Mike Smith. Numerous extended family and close friends also survive her.
