Gayle Rae Boutrous

Gayle Rae Boutrous of Grosse Pointe Woods, peacefully passed away at home February 7, 2013, after a courageous battle with lung cancer. Beloved wife of Dr. James J. Boutrous of 45 years. Dearest mother of James J. (Nicole) Boutrous, II, Anne M. (Justin) Snyder, and David M. Boutrous. Dearest grandmother of Ava G. Boutrous, Makalya M. Snyder, Abigail G. Boutrous, Mary Catherine Snyder, Genevieve S. Boutrous, and Shannon M. Snyder. Beloved sister of Janet L. Page. Predeceased by her loving parents Rosemary Elias and Ray Taylor, and her step-father, John Elias. Gayle was philanthropic and spent numerous years raising considerable dollars for St. John's Hospital and Medical Center through her generous contributions to the St. John's Fontbonne Auxiliary. Most notably, as Chairperson of the annual Fontbonne White Christmas Ball, Gayle was instrumental in raising the significant funds necessary for St. John's first MRI unit. Gayle was a devout Catholic and had a real love for the University of Notre Dame where her husband and two sons attended. She and her husband have been long time members of and contributors to the University's Fr. Sorin Society. Gayle also had a real passion for life, was an avid golfer, and loved interior design. She was a member of the Lochmoor Club for over 35 years and served as Chairperson of the Ladies' Invitational. She also was a swim team committee member where her children participated on Lochmoor's swim team for many years. Family will receive friends on Sunday, February 10, 2013, from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m., at A. H. Peters Funeral Home, located at 20705 Mack Avenue at Vernier Road in Grosse Pointe Woods, Michigan 48236, (313) 884-5500. The Holy Rosary will be recited at 7:30 Sunday evening. She will lie instate from 9:30 a.m. Monday, February 11, 2013 until Mass begins at 10:00 a.m. at St. Paul on the Lake Catholic Church, 157 Lakeshore Drive, Grosse Pointe Farms, Michigan 48236, (313) 885-8855.
