Gilbert Thomas Groehn

Gilbert Groehn passed away peacefully with family by his side on January 11, 2014. He was born on November 18, 1937; son of Gilbert William and Dorothy (nee Schreck) Groehn. Mr. Groehn was a life-long Grosse Pointe resident. He was the owner and president of Radar Devices, and Ultramed, Inc. Gilbert is survived by his loving wife Nancy. He was proud of his daughters Deanna Shine (James), Jennifer Ann Groehn; and son G. Stephen Groehn (Christina). He adored his grandchildren Colin, Caitlin, Neal (Courtney) Shine, Skylar Welti, Brenton, Quinn Egan, Cole, and Ava. He leaves behind his sisters Patricia Wade (Michael), and Lisa Morphew. He was a devoted owner to his pals Charlie, the late Savanah, and the late Hank. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 18th at 2:00 pm at A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Ave., at Vernier Rd., Grosse Pointe Woods. Reverend Larry Austin will officiate. The Groehn family will receive guests at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made for a dog park Memorial Bench for Gil and his loving canine through the Grosse Pointe Farms foundation, 90 Kerby Road, Grosse Pointe Farms, MI 48236, or Grosse Pointe Animal Adoption Society, 296 Chalfonte, Grosse Pointe Farms, MI 48236.
