

Gladys Runette Haynes, age 78 of Detroit, passed away March 4, 2017. She was born in Detroit on September 30, 1938; the daughter of Robert and Pauline Beaver. Words cannot even describe the exceptional nature of Gladys. Her intelligence was evident in her graduation from Northeastern High School at the age of sixteen. After receiving her Associates Degree from Lewis College of Business in Detroit, she went on to work as a Paginationist for R.L. Polk & Company and then retired from Michigan Bell/Ameritech Telephone Company. Gladys enjoyed flowers and cherished her family. She will be remembered for her appreciation of simple elegance and classics with clean lines. Gladys is dearly loved and will be deeply missed. When trying to describe her, "special" doesn't even cover it. Beloved wife of Herman for 55 years. Loving mother of Terrance Haynes and Alisa Townsel. Cherished grandmother of Ashley Chambers, Terrance Haynes, Terry Smith, Ian Townsel, Isiah Townsel and Alexis Townsel. Dear sister of Frances (the late Carlton) Watson. Treasured aunt of Linda Watson, Carlton Watson III, and Roselyn Desselle. Gladys is also survived by many caring cousins and friends. Gladys' family will receive friends on Saturday, March 11th and Sunday, March 12th from 2:00pm until 5:00pm at A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 32000 Schoenherr at Masonic (13-1/2 Mile), Warren. A funeral ceremony will take place on Monday, March 13th at 12:00pm at the funeral home. A committal service will immediately follow at Detroit Memorial Park Cemetery in Warren.
