

GLORIA MARION SOLOMON (Nee SAAD) proud mother of 11 children, entered into rest April 14, 2014 at the age of 86 in St. Clair Shores. A lifelong resident of the Detroit area, Gloria's beautiful voice enhanced many weddings over the years, especially at her home parish of St. Martin On The Lake with her Shubert's "Ave Maria" often moving people to tears. She was a 35-year member of the Our Lady Queen of Peace choir where she was also a longtime officer of the Tuesday Seniors. Gloria was a lifetime supporter of the IHM Sisters and many a new infant has been warmed by the blankets she crocheted as a volunteer for Pregnancy Aid. Her bright smile, infectious laugh and sage advice will be sorely missed. Gloria was the loving wife of William B. Sr. (deceased) and mother of Anne, John (Deanna), Mary (Robert) Smyka, Adele, William B. Jr. (Frances), James (Pamela), Joseph (Victoria), Catherine (Thomas) Coughlin, Margaret (Bryan)Baines and Patricia. Gloria was grandmother to 21 and great-grandmother to 11. She was predeceased by an infant daughter Elizabeth and her parents Adele and Sarguis (Sam) Saad. She also leaves behind four sisters, two brothers-in-law, a sister-in-law and many nieces and nephews. Visitation is Monday, April 21st from 3:00 pm-9:00 pm with rosary 7:00 pm at the A. H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Avenue at Vernier Road, Grosse Pointe Woods, MI 48236. In state Tuesday, April 22nd, 9:30 am followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 am at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 21620 Greater Mack, St. Clair Shores, MI. 48080, (586)777-3670.
