
Gordana Miric of St. Clair Shores passed away on February 22, 2021 at the age of 91. Beloved mother to Borislav. Aunt of Predrag, Milica,Vida, Nenad, Dragana, Gordana, and Olivera. Preceeded in death by her husband Mladen, and siblings Djrdjica, LJubicia, and Milenko.
Gordana was born and raised in Kraljevci, Serbia on May 14, 1929 to Lazar and Vida Nebrigic. In the late 1940s, she emigrated to Germany, working to help support the family back home. Several years later, she emigrated to Canada, finally settling in Windsor, Ontario. She eventually met and married Mladen Miric. In the mid 1960s, Mladen and Gordana, now with their son Borislav, immigrated to the United States, settling in Detroit, Michigan. Gordana began attending Wayne State University, earning her Bachelor’s Degree and then her Master’s of Science Degree in Library Science. She made the Dean’s list and was a member of Phi Beta Kappa Honor’s Society. While working towards her education and being a devoted wife and mother, she was also working full time and midnight shifts at the National Bank of Detroit as an auditor. She later worked as a librarian for the Detroit Public Library for many years. Gordana had many hobbies including reading, gardening, and bird watching. She was also part of the Ravanica Pensioner’s Club.
Visitation for Gordana will be held on Thursday from 2 PM until 8 PM, Pomen service at 7 PM, at A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Ave, Grosse Pointe Woods, MI 48236. Gordana will lie instate at 10 AM until the time of the service at 11 AM at St Lazarus Serbian Orthodox Cathedral, 4575 Outer Drive, Detroit, MI 48234 . Father Zivan Urosev will be officiating. She will be laid to rest at Woodlawn Cemetery in Detroit, MI.Â
