

Grace M. Bologna, age 84, died peacefully at St. John Hospital and Medical Center on November 4, 2014. Grace was born in Detroit on August 6, 1930, the daughter of Salvatore and Cristina Bologna. She grew up on Detroit's eastside and attended Our Lady of Sorrows Elementary School and graduated from Dominican High School in 1946. During her career, Grace worked as a bookkeeper at VerHoven Chevrolet in Detroit. She retired in 1980 after 28 years of service. Grace enjoyed gardening, reading and trips to the casino. She was a very family oriented person. She was a member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church and worked many years for the Church's annual Spring Festival. Grace is survived by her sisters, Marie Guastella and Christine Cottrill (Jerry); 23 nieces and nephews, 44 grand nieces and nephews and three great-grand nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings, Sebastian, Catherine, Jack and Rose; her brother-in-law William Guastella, and her friend, Hap DeNeve. Visitation will be held from 3:00 to 9:00 p.m. Friday at the A. H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Avenue at Vernier Road in Grosse Pointe Woods. A scripture service will begin at 7:00 p.m. Friday evening. Her body will lie instate at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 21620 Greater Mack, St. Clair Shores from 11:30 a.m. Saturday until time of mass, 12 noon. Interment at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Detroit. The family has suggested memorial contributions be made to the St. Vincent DePaul Society, St. Joan of Arc Conference, 22412 Overlake Street, St. Clair Shores, MI 48080.
