

Guerin "Sarge" Kilgore died on January 4th, 2011 at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit. He was born in McEwen, Tennessee on October 28th, 1935 to Eugene and Aline Kilgore. Sarge retired from Detroit Edison after 34 years working as an electrician. Despite being a "workaholic" he always made time for his family. He was proud to have served in the United Sates Army Michigan National Guard from 1959 until his retirement in 1990 attaining the rank of Command Seargent Major. Mr. Kilgore loved the outdoors and hunting. He belonged to the Thousand Trails Campground Association taking his camper all over the country camping. He was a southern gentleman who loved to visit his mother in Tennessee until her recent death. Sarge was a history Buff that could answer just about any question a family member may have had. He will be missed by all that knew him. He leaves behind his wife of twenty years, Mary. He was proud of his children Mark (Jeanine), Michael, and Kelly (Bob) Bell. He loved all of his grandchildren and step grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4:00 until 9:00 pm, and Friday from 2:00 until 9:00 pm at A.H. Peters Funeral Home 20705 Mack Ave., at Vernier Rd., Grosse Pointe Woods. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday at 10:00 am at the funeral Home officiated by pastor Larry Allen. A procession will follow to Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Detroit where military honors will be performed.
