

Harold Roy Knoll was born on April 15, 1925 in Jacksonville, Illinois the son of Paul and Agnes Knoll. He proudly served his country in the Merchant Marines during WW II. He would make this known to everyone he would meet. "Im a WW II veteran." He was honorably discharged in August of 1945 after hostilities came to a victorious close . Harold married Bette Edna Surbrook daughter of the late Melvin and Dorothy in 1948 and together they shared 64 years of happiness until Bettes death in 2012. Together they raised their daughter Janice. Harold worked in sales for the Stroh Brewery Company for over 40 years, retiring in 1985. He was a member of the Grosse Pointe Lions Club where he was very active, becoming more so when he retired. Harold was also a member of the Grosse Pointe Senior Mens Club and the AMVETS. He was a volunteer at St. James Lutheran Church in Grosse Point Farms where he also served on the Board, and a member of First English Lutheran Church in Grosse Pointe Woods. Harold was a collector of model trains, enjoyed gardening of both flowers and vegetables. He especially liked working outside, reading and volunteering his time to serve others and especially his Lord. Harold is survived by his daughter Janice Lannoo (the late Leon) and his grandson Christopher. He is predeceased by his beloved Bette and his parents Paul and Agnes Knoll. Visitation for Harold will take place on Monday from 3 until 9 pm at the A. H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Avenue at Vernier Road, Grosse Pointe Woods. The funeral service will take place 12:00 pm noon on Tuesday at the funeral home The family has requested memorial contributions be directed to the Grosse Pointe Lions Club, P.O.
