Harold Sawusch

Harold Sawusch passed from this life on July 20, 2019. He was born in Detroit, Michigan on January 21, 1930. He is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Christine. Also survived and loved by his four daughters: Diane MacIntosh (Larry), Karen Crutchfield (Jim), Lisa Weisbrod (Dan) and Amy Wassell (Scott). He has eighteen grandchildren: Lindsay Trepanowski (Christopher), Stephen Crutchfield (Janelle), Courtney Vohs (Adam), Zachary MacIntosh (Kristina), Jordan MacIntosh (fianc of Anna Rossi), Patrick Weisbrod (Kendra), Chelsea MacIntosh (fianc of Scott Kunert), Paul Weisbrod, Shaun Wassell (Jackie), Peter Weisbrod, Jacob Wassell, Phillip Weisbrod, Margaret Weisbrod, Maria Weisbrod, Andrew Wassell, Ethan Wassell, Michael Weisbrod and Emma Wassell. He was blessed by seven great-grandchildren: Benjamin Trepanowski, Matthew Trepanowski, Anna Crutchfield, Grace Trepanowski, Zoe MacIntosh, Anderson Vohs and Mason MacIntosh. Harold is pre-deceased by his parents, Harold J and Lillian Sawusch and by his grandson, Paul Weisbrod. Harold served in the US Navy and retired from General Motors, where he had been a wood pattern maker for Chevrolet. He loved being with his family, and spending time playing and joking with his grandchildren. In his spare time, he enjoyed gardening, remodeling, gourmet cooking and boating. He treasured spending summers at his cottage in the Les Cheneaux Islands, where his family made forever memories. Most of all, he shared his faith in Jesus Christ by living a life of steadfast love and service. His legacy will live on through his family, who experienced his devotion, patience, kindness, and faith firsthand. A visitation will take place on Monday, July 22, from 5:00 to 9:00 pm at A. H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Ave., Grosse Pointe Woods, 48236. Harold will lie in state on Tuesday, July 23, from 10:00 am until time of funeral service at 11:00 am at Bethel Lutheran Church, 26400 Little Mack, St. Clair Shores, 48081. Donations in Harold's memory may be made to Bethel Lutheran Church.
