Heinrich Christian (Chris) Schaefer, MD, passed away peacefully on October 6 in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan at the age of 96. Dr. Schaefer is survived by his beloved wife of 42 years, Vittoria, his son, Christian Schaefer Jr. (Julie), his step-daughter, Maria Bardy, and two grandchildren, Nicholas Schileru and Christina Cline. He is further survived by his sister Traude in Germany, and many nieces and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Brigette in Germany, and his step-son Gary Gregg. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Dr. Christian Schaefer to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, PO Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38148-0142 [email protected]. A memorial service will be held at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, 375 Lothrop, Grosse Pointe Farms, MI on October 25 at 11:00 am. A.H. Peters Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
