Hilda Emilie Schmaltz

Hilda Emilie Schmaltz was born in Detroit on Oct. 12, 1917. She was the second child of parents Fred and Elsa. Her siblings were Dorothy, Arthur, Wilma and Norman. She was a beloved aunt of 16 nieces and nephews. An accomplished secretary, Hilda worked for Border Dairy, Concordia Teachers College and retired from Chrysler. For relaxation, Hilda enjoyed photography and travel. She visited 30 countries. A lifelong Lutheran, Hilda taught Sunday school and sang in the choir. In 1995, Hilda was honored by Project Compassion as Lutheran Woman of the Year. Hilda passed to eternity on July 9, 2013. Visitation will be held Friday, July 12, 2013 from 1:00pm until 8:00pm at the A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 32000 Schoenherr (at Masonic), Warren. Instate Saturday, July 13, 2013 at 10:00am until time of service 11:00am at St. Luke Lutheran Church, 21400 S. Nunneley, Clinton Towbnship. Reverend Bert A. Thompson will officiate. Interment Saturday, July 13, 2013 at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Detroit. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Luke Lutheran Church.
