We were very surprised and saddened to hear about Imgardâ€™s death. She will be missed by all and we extend our condolences to all of the family. Imgard was a wonderful person who was very kind and full of life we will miss her as a friend and neighbor.

Joe, Steve, Mike and family, You are all in our thoughts and prayers. Words can not really describe the loss of your Mother/Oma. I hope there is some comfort in knowing how much she was loved and how much she will be missed by so many. Her service was touching, and so fitting for Irmgard. The beautiful music, and the involvement of you all. She loved you all so much, and of course still does. She was so very proud of each and everyone of you. I had the great priviledge of knowing Irmgard for almost 25 years. During that time she became my "boss" at St. Louise, while I was Youth Leader for 9 years. But Irmgard became much, much more than that. Irmgard was one of my best friends, my mentor, and definitely my 2nd Mother. She taught me much about being a teacher, a leader, a woman, a mother and a friend. I owe a great deal to her. If it weren't for Irmgard, my family would not be what we are today. I met my husband Richard because of my time at St. Louise, and she said the Blessing at our wedding! My son Alex grew up with Irmgard as a friend and "grandma" and she was his Confirmation sponsor and great source of support. Irmgard threw a baby shower for me when my daughter Nicole was born. Nicole grew up learning and doing volunteer work with her other "grandma". Nicole had asked her to be her Confirmation sponsor, but she was in Florida at the time. Then of course, Richard met you, Joe, on a call and realized you had Irmgard in common! Amazing how many lives she touched! She was a very special part of our family, and we will never forget her. She will always hold a special place in our hearts. Through the years, I heard many stories about you all, and I felt like I knew you through those stories. It is with that knowledge of what you all meant to her, and what I know that she must have meant to each and everyone of you, that we express our deep sympathy at this time. My sympathy to the KOVACS family: Joe, Steve, Mike and their families IRMGARD Remembering with a tear in my eye, more than 20 years working together at St. Louise the good times filled with laughter and some time filled with sadness and tears. Remembering the many children and people she helped learn about their faith and encouraged to do better. The celebration of numerous communions and confirmations  the many teachers and religious education students she touched and helped them serve the community. Remembering the many Christmas gatherings filled with the joy of the season and the circles we formed singing and enjoying each others company. Remembering the untimely passing of her beloved Joe  and how she demonstrated the strength of her faith by going on with her life as he would have wanted and knowing how much she missed him. Remembering the many gathering of her friends, although too infrequently, sharing a meal, a glass of wine or a cup of tea they provided friendly conversations. Remembering her devotion, serving the St. Malachy community and participating in the services, choir, teaching the children and fund raisers. Remembering her participation and support of the IVC and the many lives touched by this wonderful organization. ..and soooooo much more.. She will always be in my heart and prayers. When I first moved to the U.S. the Kovacs were the first 'American' family that I experienced on a regular basis. Mrs Kovacs was truly one of the nicest, most caring people I have met. Although Steve and I undoubtedly did things that deserved a frown, I can't remember anything but a warm loving face and thoughtful word. I'm so very sorry for your loss.

Irmgard was so kind and warm. I met her when I was a very young DRE fresh out of college. We served together on the board for the Detroit Society of Catechetical Leaders known as the DSCL. I remember her being a positive, strong and faith-filled woman. She always had kind things to say of others, and she made you feel comfortable when she talked with you because she really listened with her heart. Irmgard encouraged me to continue in ministry as a DRE and to continue my graduate studies in school. She always had that twinkle in her eyes when she shared an idea for a program or event, and Irmgard always found creative ways to share herh Catholic faith and her love of Christ with others. She was truly a treasure to all of us in the Archdiocese of Detroit and she will be missed. I was honored to know her and wish her family my deepest sympathies. I knew Irmgard with the begining of the Macomb County IVC 18 years. Pat & I spent time with her at the Msgr. F. Gerald Martin Ministry Conference at Madonna University August 3 - 5, 2009 presented by Fr. Ron Rohlheiser. Whether it was working together or simply relaxing, it was always a delight to be with Irmgard. Heaven has to be a brighter place with her in it. Pain is not a word that can describe how I feel right now, you were more than just a mother to Joe, Steve and Mike, You were a Mom to anyone who found there way into your home. I came into your house when I was 7 years old and you always made me feel like I was one of your own boys. I can remember being angry when Steve went to europe in the summer because it meant i couldn't come hang out at the Kovacs house. You were a special lady and you will always be in my heart. I know I speak for many when i say not you will be missed but never forgotten. My heart and prayer go out to all your Grandchildren who lost there Oma way too soon.
