

James Emerson Emerick passed away on April 11, 2017. James was 92 1/2 years old. He was born in Halfway, Michigan to Roy and Mary. Growing up in St. Clair Shores, James graduated from Lakeview High School. A veteran of World War II, James served in the Army as Sergeant in General George S. Patton's 3rd Army. He had a great love and respect for our country and all who serve in the military. After the war, James and his wife Fern resided in Harper Woods for 68 years, raising three children Karen, Valerie and Jim. James retired in 1986 after working 38 years as a lathe operator in Warren. Jim and Fern enjoyed camping, golfing, fishing, riding motorcycles, spending time up north and traveling down south to Tennessee and Florida. With Dad family always came first. James was the beloved husband of the late Fern whom he married on June 1, 1943, and the dear father of Karen Beger, Valerie Peck (Ted) and Jim (Karen). Jim was the doting grandfather of Matthew (Nicole), Supriya (Adam), Stephanie, Jennifer (Rich), Jim (Nikki) and Jennifer also the great grandfather of Luke, Mark, Lauren, Dean, Kaden and Corbin. The funeral service for Mr. Emerick will take place Tuesday 10 am at the A. H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Avenue at Vernier Road, Grosse Pointe Woods. Visitation will take place on Monday 3-9 pm. Military honors and a rifle salute for Mr. Emerick will occur immediately following the funeral service. The family has requested memorial contributions be directed to the American Heart Association.
