James Edward Handley Jr.

James (Jim) Edward Handley, Jr., age 77, of Grosse Pointe Farms, passed away on August 15, 2025. Born in Oak Park, Illinois on July 2, 1948, to his late parents James and Jeanne Handley, Jim was raised in New Buffalo, Michigan. He attended Western Michigan University, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree. After his education, he built a life and career in Grosse Pointe Farms where he was a longtime resident.

Jim was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his wife Linda; his children, Lauren (Jeramy), Pamela (Dan), and James (Wynneth); and his grandchildren Charles, Trace, Margaret, Genevieve, and Violet. He will be remembered for his love of history, his quick mind (he excelled at Jeopardy!), and his love of sports, especially as a dedicated Detroit Lions fan. Above all else, he loved his family.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at 2:30 p.m. at A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Ave., Grosse Pointe Woods, MI. The funeral service will follow at 3:00 p.m. at the same location. Memorial donations in Jim’s memory may be directed to the Salvation Army.
