James Leon Maniere Sr.

James L. “Jimmy” Maniere, Sr. of St. Clair Shores passed away on August 24, 2026. Jimmy was born in Detroit on November 23, 1937, one of six children born to Robert and Lenore Maniere. He attended St. Charles, St. Rose, U of D High and graduated from Annunciation.

In 1959 he married Louise “Dolly” Torres with whom he shared 5 children and 44 years of marriage. Jimmy was the past owner of McNamara Associates, Inc. and a decades long member of the Grosse Pointe Crisis Club.

Jimmy was predeceased by his beloved wife Dolly in 2014 and his daughter Jamie Lynn in 2024.

He is survived by his daughters Susan Maniere (the late William Kuse), Wendy (Ted) Duncan, his sons, James Maniere, Jr. (Teresa) and Timothy Maniere (Nicole). He is also survived by six grandchildren, Brandi Guzman (Oscar), Katie Anderson (Chad), Emma Maniere, Bridget MacDonald (Allan), Jack Maniere and Mark Maniere and great grandchildren Mateo and Rhea Guzman, Jace Anderson, Carter MacDonald with a new baby Anderson on the way.

Jimmy was one of a kind for sure and his passing leaves an empty space for those who loved him.

Visitation will be held at A. H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Ave, Grosse Pointe Woods, MI 48236, on August 28, 2026, from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
