

Pastor James D. Mellish, age 74, a resident of Warren, died Monday, November 15, 2010 in Livonia MI. He was born August 5, 1936 in Lapeer, MI to the late John and Mary Mellish. Pastor Mellish officially retired from Warren Woods Church of the Nazarene in 1999 after 35 years of ministry, however he continued with his preaching ministry until the time of his death. He earned his Masters of Divinity from Nazarene Theological Seminary and received an Honorary Doctorate from Olivet Nazarene University. Pastor James was an avid hunter and active in sports. He is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Marilyn. Dear father of Janell (Brian) Banning, Kevin(Jeanine) and Todd (Jeanne), grandfather of Luke Banning, Logan Banning, Dakota, Delaney, Lacie, Jackson, and Benjamin Mellish also siblings George (Betty), Fred (Barbara), and the late Pauline(wife of Russell)Spray, late John (husband of Joyce), late Paul (husband of Toni), and the late Opal (wife of Roy) Roberts. A funeral Service will be held 11:00 am Wednesday November 17, 2010 at Warren Woods Church of the Nazarene, 14300 E. 13 Mile Rd. Warren with Rev. Ted Lee, Dr. Stephen Anthony and Rev. Tim Gocha officiating. Private Burial at Highland Cemetery in Gladwin, MI. Visitation Tuesday, November 16, 2010 from 2 pm until 9 pm at the A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 32000 Schoenherr at Masonic (13 Mile Rd.), Warren. Additional visitation with the family at Church Wednesday 10:00 am until time of Service 11 am. Memorial contributions to Warren Woods Church of the Nazarene Missions or School appreciated by family.
