

James McPherson Wilson passed away on February 12, 2017 at the age of 91. He was born on June 5th, 1925 in Cleveland, Ohio; son of James and Jean (nee McPherson) Wilson. After graduating from Upper Darby High School in 1943, Jim enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving proudly during WWII from 1943 until 1946. He was stationed at the Quonset Naval Base in Rhode Island and received the World War II Victory Medal and the American Theatre Medal. During his tour of duty Jim met Doris Irene Taylor. The couple was married for 64 years until her passing in 2012. The couple was blessed with three daughters; Barbara (Rick) Stabile, Sherry Parsh, and Patti (Steven) Ciechanowski. They were proud of their grandchildren Emily, Nathan (Megan), Meghan (Aaron), Jessica, Bradley, Kristen, Lindsay, Michele, and Nick; and great-grandson Ashton James. He was survived by his sister Jean Carter. Jim retired from General Motors as a Tool and Die Maker. In his spare time, Jim enjoyed golfing and bowling. He enjoyed traveling and was strong in his Christian faith. His biggest love in his life was his family who will miss him dearly. Visitation for Mr. Wilson will be held on Thursday, February 16th from 2:00 pm until 9:00 pm at A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Ave., at Vernier Rd., Grosse Pointe Woods. His funeral will be held on Friday the 17th at 10:00 am at the funeral home. Pastor Matthew Swiatek will officiate. The funeral will conclude with military honors. Jim will be buried next to his beloved Doris at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan.
