Jamia Arleen Taylor Justice

Jamia Arleen Taylor-Justice was born on November 11th 1954 to James Taylor and Alonzo Price, in Detroit, Michigan. She was a proud graduate of Cass Technical High School, where she first began shaping the compassion, intelligence, and determination that would define her life’s work.

She continued her education at Wayne State University, earning her undergraduate degrees, and later completed her Master’s degree in Social Work at Eastern Michigan University, a field that perfectly aligned with her lifelong calling to serve, advocate for, and uplift others.

While attending Wayne State she met the love of her life, Albert Justice Jr., eventually sealing their union 25 years after the birth of their daughter. Only until death did they part.

Jamia dedicated her career to supporting children, families, and her community with deep care and unwavering strength. She began her professional journey at Marlowe House, went on to serve with Lutheran Child and Family Services, and ultimately devoted many years to Child Protective Services for the State of Michigan. In every role, she brought compassion, integrity, and a fierce commitment to protecting the vulnerable and guiding families through difficult times.

Beyond her work, Jamia was a loving mother, a steady presence, and a source of warmth and wisdom to those who knew her. Especially her cousins, whose relationships extended beyond familial titles. They were extra siblings, bonus children and grandchildren. Her kindness, her laughter, and her unwavering dedication to her family and community leave a lasting legacy that will be felt for generations.

She is survived by her daughter, Anissa Justice, and a host of beloved family members, friends, colleagues; all who were touched by her care.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 2, 2025 from 2:00 PM- 8:00 PM at A.H. Peters Funeral Home located at 20705 Mack Ave. Grosse Pointe Woods, MI 48236. A committal service will be held on Wednesday, December 3, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Grand Lawn Cemetery located at 23501 Grand River Ave. Detroit, MI 48219
