Janet Manney Abdenour

Jan was born to Orville & Celia Fairbanks in Pontiac, MI and was a 1954 graduate of Pontiac High School. She went on to study at Central Michigan University where she was a member of Delta Zeta sorority.

She married Russell F. Manney Jr. and had three children, Russell Manney III, Timothy, and Thomas. When the kids were grown, she began work in the family printing business before embarking on a 28-year career at University Liggett School.

Jan was a long-time member of the Cathedral Church of St. Paul in Detroit. After the death of her first husband, Russell, she married Richard Abdenour. Together they enjoyed boating, travelling, and spending time with their numerous children and grandchildren.

Jan leaves behind a legacy of love. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Those who knew her knew they were loved by her. She was most happy when hosting holiday parties, having her home filled with friends and family.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Russell Manney Jr. and Richard Abdenour. She is survived by her sons, Russell Manney III (Providence), Timothy Manney (Kathleen), and Thomas Manney (Theresa). She is also survived by her brother, Stephen Fairbanks (Dolores, d.) and her nieces Jennifer Braverman, Stephanie Fairbanks and Beth Rohder. Jan is further survived by her grandchildren, Andrea (Ryan), Michael, Thomas (Kendall), Stephen (Alexandra), Brian, John, Ashley (Tony), Meghan, Kaitlyn (Rob), Emily, and Jessica as well as six great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at A.H. Peters Funeral Home, located at 20705 Mack Ave, Grosse Pointe Woods, Michigan, 48236, on Monday, October 27, 2025, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

The funeral service will take place at The Cathedral Church of St. Paul, 4800 Woodward Ave, Detroit, MI, 48201, on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at The Cathedral Church of St. Paul at 11:00 am.
