Joan Elizabeth Bodner

Joan "Betty" Bodner passed away at Wm Beaumont Hospital in Troy on July 22, 2011. She was born on September 4, 1922; daughter of William and Julia (nee Loersch) Korte. Betty graduated from St. Ambrose High School in Grosse Pointe Park in 1940. Five years later she married Stephen Bodner at St. Ambrose Church on April 7th, 1945. They enjoyed 38 years together until Stephen passed away in 1983. Mrs. Bodner lived in the Grosse Pointes for most of her life. She loved to garden and always kept an immaculate lawn. She can even be seen on Google Maps raking her lawn. Mrs. Bodner's biggest love in her life was her family. She was proud of her daughters Shirley (Jim) Muggli, Patricia (Vallie) Byrdsong, and Janice (Ken) Montville; and sons Michael (Susan McKinnon), Bill (Sandy), and the late Stephen (Carole). She adored her grandchildren Geoff, Nathan, Kristin, Darrick, Alicia, Kelly, and Jessica. She was the great grandmother of Jolene, Aaron, and Norah. She is survived by her sister Dorothy. She was predeceased by four sisters and two brothers. Visitation will be held on Monday from 2:00 pm until 9:00 pm at A.H. Peters Funeral Home 20705 Mack Ave., at Vernier Rd., Grosse Pointe Woods. A Scripture Service will be held at 7:00 pm. Mrs. Bodner will lie instate on Wendesday from 9:30 am until the time of the Mass of the Resurrection at 10:00 am at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church 21620 Greater Mack, St. Clair Shores. Monsignor Michael Bugarin will officiate. Betty will be interred next to her beloved Stephen at Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton Twp.
