The Lord welcomed home Joan Claire McClellan Bonamy, 94, the oldest person in her family for the last two centuries on December 30th, 2025. She passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Born November 23rd, 1931, in Detroit, Michigan, the eldest daughter of the late Walter William McClellan and Anna Francis O’Donnell McClellan.
She graduated from St. Ambrose Catholic High School in 1950.
Beloved widow of the late Robert Louis Bonamy. They shared 28 years of marriage together before his passing in 1982.
Joan retired from AT&T where she worked as a Human Resources Administrative Assistant.
Joan is survived by her daughter, Michelle Bonamy (Jeff Frydlewicz), her two grandsons, Robert Armstrong and James Armstrong as well as her two brothers Joe McClellan (Ann) and Ed McClellan.
She was predeceased in death by her brother William Walter McClellan (Suzy), sister Barbara Anne Harrison (Jim) and sister-in-law Christine McClellan as well as step-siblings Van, Audrey, Jean and Cameron.
In-state visitation will be held at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Grosse Pointe Park on Thursday, January 8th, 2026 beginning at ten o’clock in the morning until the time of mass at eleven o’clock in the morning.
