John Walter Abar

He received his B.S. in Metallurgical Engineering from the University of Michigan. John had a very successful career in engineering and manufacturing. Mr. Abar was a member of the Society of Automotive Engineers and the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence. He was the chairman for many committees within these organizations.

In his spare time, John enjoyed sailing, model railroad, camping, classic motorboating and golfing.

He was predeceased by his loving wife Judy. He was proud of his daughter Linda Abar and sons Matt Abar and Dave (Erdilyn) Abar. He adored his grandchildren Matthew and Christa. He was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and everyone whose life he touched.

A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, August 6 at 10:00 am at A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Ave., Grosse Pointe Woods. His family will receive guests at 9:00 am. Brunch will be at the Grosse Pointe Yacht Club following the Memorial Service.
