

John D. Joyce, age 82 of Warren, passed away peacefully on July 27, 2017. He was born on May 24, 1935 in Maidstone Township, Ontario, Canada to George William Ray and Grace (nee Christie) Joyce. John attended Queens University in Kingston, Ontario before transferring to the University of Michigan for graduate studies where he met his caring wife, Joyce. Following the receipt of his Masters degree, John went on to work as a Computer Research Engineer for the General Motors Research Lab for 35 years. In Johns free time, he was a proud Rotarian and was extremely involved in the Clean Water Program for the Dominican Republic. He and his wife were unquestionably world travelers. Their travels included, but are not limited to all fifty states, ten providences, three territories and seventy-one countries. John is dearly loved and will be deeply missed. Beloved husband of Joyce for over 57 years. Loving father of David (Lisa) Joyce, Karen (the late John) Joyce and Michael Joyce. Treasured grandfather of Catie Smith, Alexa Joyce, Dalton Joyce, Victoria Guy and the late Zachary Joyce. He cherished his special dogs; Minnie and Ellie. Johns family will receive friends for a Memorial Gathering on Saturday, August 12th from 9:00AM until time of Service 10:00AM at A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 32000 Schoenherr at Masonic (13-1/2 Mile), Warren. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Rotary Foundation (Rotary.org) or Leader Dogs for the Blind (leaderdog.org).
