Joseph Cueter passed away on November 30, 2020 at the age of 91. He was born on November 5, 1929 in Detroit son of Mary and Joseph Cueter. Joseph was predeceased by his loving wife Joyce in 2015 after 65 years of marriage. He was proud of his children Cheryl Minnehan (Terry), Jeffrey (Beth), Mark (Karen), and Joseph (Kris). He adored his grandchildren TJ (Cassandra), Nicholas (Alyse), Zachary, Carson, Caroline, Elias, Nathaniel, Joshua, and Erin; and great-grandchildren Claire, Ella, Winston, and Madelyn. He will be missed by his sister Virginia (Nanette) and brother John. He was predeceased by his parents and siblings Theresa, George, Anthony, Ann, Georgette, and Barbara (Dolores).
Joseph had many gifts and was eager to share or teach these with any and all that needed his help. He had a work ethic that was second to none and a drive for perfection that was unquestionable. If Joe was involved in the project it was sure to be done correctly. From basic electrical and woodworking to helping rebuild the Rectory at his church. To driving disabled neighbors to Dr. appointments and making traditional Syrian meals with Grandchildren to be passed on to other generations.
After his serving in the Korean War, he returned home to begin his working life journey. He settled in at U.S. Equipment Company for a 40 year career that provided him a great life for his family. In his retirement years he enjoyed boating, woodworking, playing cards and puzzles. His passion for the Catholic Church was ever present, most notably in the tray of beads always at his side allowing him to make one of the thousands of Rosaries he would donate yearly to his favorite charities.
Visitation will be held on Sunday from 2:00 pm until 6:00 pm at A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Avenue, at Vernier Rd., Grosse Pointe Woods. Joseph’s Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated on Monday at 10:00 am at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 21620 Greater Mack., St Clair Shores. Monsignor G. Michael Bugarin will officiate. Joseph will be laid to rest next to his beloved Joyce at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Detroit.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Capuchins, 1820 Mt. Elliott, Detroit, MI 48207.
