He passed away after a short illness at his home in Clinton Township on Thursday December 3rd with his family at his side. He proudly served his country in the Army during the Korean war. Mr. Cunningham was married to Florida (nee White). In October they celebrated 65 years together. They were blessed with four children, daughters Veronica Cunningham, Wilma Hawkins; sons Michael and Victor Cunningham, grandsons Jarell Cunningham and Darius Gary. He was the brother of Ruby Jean. Mr. Cunningham retired as a manager from Comerica Bank, the former Detroit Bank and Trust in 1990 after 31 years of faithful service. Joseph enjoyed travelling with his wife throughout Canada and the South. He also organized trips for groups. Those he organized for always looked forward to these trips because he was very thorough in his organizational skills. He was a Sunday school teacher for fifty years and a trustee at his church, Rising Star Church in Detroit. One of his favorite pastimes was participating in family activities. He was very outgoing and had many friends. Where ever he went he always ran into some one he knew, and they would talk at length.
