Joseph Schwartz

Joseph William Schwartz, born to Anton and Katherine Schwartz on September 18, 1917, entered into rest at the age of 94 on May 12, 2012. Born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, he settled in Grosse Pointe Shores in 1951. Joe proudly served in the US Coast Guard during World War II. He was a graduate of the 1940 class of Carnegie Institute of Technology in Pittsburgh with a BS Mechanical Engineering. He then went on to enjoy a career at Schwartz Boring Company in Detroit until he retired in 1995. Joe married Elinor Sherman in 1947 and they were blessed with a daughter, Linda Faye in 1949. Joe was preceded in death by his wife Elinor and his daughter, Linda Roszak. Joe is survived by his son-in-law, John Roszak, and grandsons; John Jr., Matthew, Steven, and Mark. He was predeceased by his brothers; John, Frank, Edward, Charles (Butch), and his sister, Helen. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 3:00 pm until the time of the services, 4:00 pm at the A. H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Ave. at Vernier Rd., Grosse Pointe Woods.
