Joseph Anthony Simon

Joseph Simon passed away on September 21, 2012 at the age of 85. He was born on September 7, 1922 in Detroit, Michigan; son of Tom and Ida (nee Mowi) Simon. Mr. Simon joined the United States Navy right after graduating High School. He was honorably discharged attaining the rank of Seaman Second Class. On September second, 1957 Joseph married his beloved Gertrude Lanoue at Annunciation Catholic Church in Stoney Pointe, Ontario, Canada. Joseph had a successful career as a claims adjuster, retiring from AAA in 1983. Mr. Simon loved to travel. He enjoyed spending time with family at his son Matthew's cottage in Stoney Pointe, Ontario and condo in Boyne Mountain, Michigan; and his son Mark's condo in Turks and Caicos. Mr. Simon leaves behind his loving wife Gertrude. He was proud of his four children; Mark (Anne), Patricia Rousseau, Matthew (Nancy), and David (Deborah). He adored his grandchildren Mackenzie, Camryn, Shailee, Michael, Courtney, Christopher, Kathleen, Andrew, Sydney, and Katlyn. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 2:00 - 9:00 pm at A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Ave., at Vernier Rd., Grosse Pointe Woods. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm. Mr. Simon will lie instate on Wednesday at 9:30 am until the time of the Mass of the Resurrection at 10:00 am at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 21620 Greater Mack, St. Clair Shores.
