OBITUARY

Josephine Lumetta

September 28, 1923April 24, 2021

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother Josephine Lumetta of Grosse Pointe Woods on April 24th at 97. Born in Detroit in 1923, "Jo" married Lawrence Lumetta in 1946 and together they had seven children. In addition to raising her family, Jo held several jobs throughout her life, including as a switchboard operator for Michigan Bell and bookkeeper for multiple companies such as Good Housekeeping. Throughout her life she enjoyed a wide variety of music and could always be heard singing around the house or quietly humming to herself. She also loved to laugh. The sillier the humor the better. She is survived by her four sons Vincent (Mary Louise), Joseph (Jan), Salvatore (Pamela) and Christopher (Kelly); her ten grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband Lawrence and children Catherine, Michael and Frances. The funeral service will be held at Holy Family Church in Detroit on May 7th at 10am, with visitation beginning at 9am. A remembrance will take place following the service in the social hall.
