

Joyce Lawrence passed away on February 18, 2017 at the age of 73. She was born in Detroit on November 19, 1943; daughter of William and Mary Margaret (nee Anderson) Sayed. Her father was in the Army in World War II and did not get to meet her until she was a toddler. Joyce married her husband Norbert Lawrence in 1964. They settled in St. Clair Shores and had four children. Sadly, he passed away in 1976 leaving her to raise four very young children alone. After her children were raised, she moved to Macomb Township and enjoyed baking from scratch pies and cooking and planning holiday parties for her grandchildren. She prayed the rosary daily and looked forward to attending art classes. She cherished her parents, brothers, sister and their spouses as well as her nieces and nephews and their children. Joyce enjoyed keeping in contact with her cousins and speaking with her neighbors. Joyce is survived by her dear father William Sayed. She will be missed by her loving daughters Julie (Jeff) Williams, Amy (Carmine) Perotta, and Kathleen (Fred) Nowicki; and son Daniel (Sue) Lawrence. She doted on her grandchildren Jake, Josh, Ben, Elaina, Angelina, William, Abrahm, Freddy, Ava, Anthony, and Matt. She is survived by her brothers Bill and Jim Sayed and sister Beverly Hardesty. She was predeceased by her husband Norbert, mother Mary Margaret, and brother David Sayed. Visitation will be held on Monday from 2:00 until 9:00 pm at A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Ave., at Vernier Rd., Grosse Pointe Woods. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm. Joyce will lie instate on Tuesday from 11:30 am until the time of the Mass of the Resurrection at Noon at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 21620 Greater Mack, St. Clair Shores.
